Welsh broadcaster Alex Jones has said she is “delighted” to front the BBC’s Children In Need appeal show for the first time.

The 49-year-old, known for hosting The One Show, was the first name revealed to have joined the presenting team for the charity’s flagship fundraising show.

This year’s fundraising campaign, Challenge Yourself 2026, will encourage people to create their own challenge inspired by the number 26 and raise money for the corporation’s charity to support children and young people.

Jones said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining this year’s BBC Children In Need presenting team.

“Every year, the appeal shines a light on the incredible projects and people making a real difference to children and young people across the UK.

“It’s something that we champion through the Challenge Squad on The One Show, and it’s a privilege to help tell those stories.

“At a time when so many young people are facing challenges, the support funded by BBC Children In Need has never been more important.”

Jones said she “can’t wait” to be part of the appeal show and see the “nation come together once again” to ensure “every child has someone by their side when they need it most”.

The presenter is among a number of stars who have backed the Challenge Yourself 2026 campaign and called on the public to take part in a challenge or donate to the charity before the appeal show.

Other stars to join in include Spice Girls star Emma Bunton, dancer and Kiss radio presenter Jordan Banjo, comedian Mel Giedroyc, fitness coach Joe Wicks and Irish television host Angela Scanlon.

The Children In Need campaign also launched a limited edition T-shirt designed by Bunton.

The shirts are available exclusively through George at Asda, with proceeds helping fund services for children and young people.

Supporters can also take part in Run With Pudsey And Joe Wicks, which challenges people to complete a marathon by completing two miles a day in the two weeks leading up to the appeal programme.

Jones will be joined on the appeal show by a number of other presenters who will be revealed in the lead-up to the show.

BBC’s Children In Need will air on November 13 on BBC One and iPlayer.
