A councillor has expressed anger after fireworks were set off on a busy city street.

Video recorded on Lincoln Road in Peterborough showed the sky lit up during a series of loud explosions at about 21:30 GMT on Wednesday.

City council cabinet member Zameer Ali posted the footage, describing the incident as "absolutely disgraceful".

He said: "I am utterly disgusted by this behaviour. A busy road, passing traffic, pedestrians and local businesses, yet some people think it is acceptable to set off fireworks with total disregard for everyone else's safety."
