Police have launched a manhunt for a male seen with a “long bladed item” near a school in Gloucester after a boy was rushed to hospital following an “altercation”.
Emergency services were called shortly after 8.50am to a report of an altercation on Chalford Road, near to St Peter’s High School in Tuffley. Gloucestershire Police said one boy sustained “minor injuries” and has been taken to hospital to be assessed.
Officers said those involved had “fled the area” and that armed police are currently working to trace them. No other injuries have been reported, according to the force.

Pupils and staff have remained within the school grounds, with a significant police presence outside the school. Parents have been urged not to attend the premises as armed police hunt for those involved.
Detectives added it is understood there is currently “no ongoing threat” to the school or pupils and said they will continue to provide updates.
In a statement on social media the force said: “There is a large police presence in Tuffley, Gloucester following an incident near a school this morning (Friday 6 November).
“We were called shortly after 8.50am with a report of an altercation on Chalford Road, near to St Peter’s High School, and a male was seen in possession of a long-bladed item.
“One boy sustained minor injuries and has been taken to hospital to be assessed, and at this time no other injuries have been reported to police.
“Those involved fled the area and police, including armed officers, are searching for them. It is understood that there is currently no ongoing threat at the school and pupils are safe within the school grounds, and therefore parents are asked not to attend the premises at this time.
