Two people have been arrested after a masked man armed with a knife broke into a home in north Belfast.

The incident happened at a property in the Silverstream Drive area at approximately 09:10 BST on Sunday.

The masked man demanded money from a female who was inside the house with another man at the time. The suspect then made off with a sum of cash and a vehicle that he stole from outside the property.

The woman was unharmed in the incident, but police have described it as a "terrifying ordeal".

Police located the vehicle after it was involved in a single-vehicle collision a short distance away.

A search of the nearby area was carried out.

Police said follow up enquiries resulted in the arrests of two men, aged 37 and 47, on suspicion of a number of offences including aggravated burglary.

"They remain in custody at this time as enquiries continue into the investigation to determine the circumstances of exactly what happened," Det Serg Long said.
