Arsenal vs Como LIVE

Arsenal close out their pre-season preparations this evening, hosting Cesc Fabregas’ Como in north London for their fourth and final friendly of the summer. Mikel Arteta’s side cruised past Getafe to get the summer underway before tasting defeat at the hands of Real Betis and Borussia Dortmund, but will hope to get back to winning ways here before heading to Cardiff next weekend to face Manchester City in the Community Shield.

There may be some fresh faces involved for the Premier League champions here. Bruno Guimaraes signed from Newcastle last week and could run out in front of the home fans for the first time, while Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka will hope to get a couple of minutes in the legs having returned from their summer holidays.

Como fans should also get a look at some debutants, with the most notable hopeful being Trevoh Chalobah, who moved to the Serie A outfit from Chelsea last week. Follow the action LIVE below with our dedicated match blog, featuring expert insight and analysis from Matt Verri at the Emirates Stadium.

Cesc Fabregas previews the tie...

"It is a huge challenge for us, an important match, and a massive opportunity. I would say these next two matches represent an excellent chance to understand where we are and what level we can reach ahead of the Champions League.

“Playing in front of 65,000 people, in a fantastic stadium, against world-class players, and in an incredible atmosphere will be an invaluable test for us.

"I know that as soon as the match was announced, many fans bought tickets. As a city and as a club, we are truly proud to come here and play such an important match against Arsenal, a team that has reached a Champions League final and won the Premier League. It is another step in our journey and a great opportunity for everyone."

Players touch down

Cesc Fabregas returns to Arsenal today - a club where he has a rather complex past.

He endeared himself to the Gunners faithful when he cracked the club’s first team in 2003, going on to make 212 league appearances and win the 2004/05 FA Cup.

Three years after leaving, though, he committed the cardinal sin of joining Chelsea, where he spent five years and won a wealth of silverware, becoming a two-time Premier League champion.

Tonight he returns to the club for the first time since 2018. It remains to be seen how warm a welcome he will be afforded...

Butez; Kempf, Valle, Douvikas, Ramon, Couto, Baturina, Perrone, LIberali, Da Cunha, Diao

Interesting lineup from Arteta. No risks taken with White ahead of the Community Shield, so a big chance for 18-year-old Theo Julienne to impress. Marli Salmon next to him, very young combination on the right of the defence.

Eberechi Eze has only been back in training for a few days but he starts, presumably for 30 minutes. Bruno Guimaraes should make his debut off the bench.

Transfer rumour mill

There is plenty of transfer gossip knocking around this week.

Today, it has been reported by the BBC that the Gunners are keen to reopen talks over a potential deal for Aston Villa centre-back Ezri Konsa.

Elsewhere, Sky Germany hold that Galatasaray have lodged a bid worth €45m (£38m) for Gabriel Martinelli.

Arrizabalaga; Julienne, Salmon, Gabriel, Hincapie; Lewis-Skelly, Eze, Nwaneri; Dowman, Jesus, Martinelli
