Gunners looking to open up six-point gap heading into international break

Arsenal vs Hull LIVE

The Gunners welcome Hull to the Emirates Stadium this afternoon for their final Premier League game ahead of the November international break. Victory at Liverpool last time out has opened up a three-point gap over Manchester City at the top of the standings, and that gap could grow by the end of today.

Arsenal were given a scare in midweek from a plucky Slavia Prague side, should went down 2-1 at home but missed a host of chances in the second half to snatch a point. Mikel Arteta will know a similar display today could well go punished by the Tigers, who have not won since August but are proving tough nuts to crack upon their return to the top flight.

There are question marks over Ezri Konsa’s fitness, and William Saliba could today make his along-awaited return from injury, while Noni Madueke will have a point to prove after his surprise England squad snub. Follow the game LIVE below with our dedicated match blog, featuring expert insight and analysis from Matt Verri at the Emirates Stadium.

Live updates

Who will start in attack?

In the absence of the injured Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke continues to impress and he is effectively the only option on the right wing with Max Dowman suspended for the next two Premier League matches.

There is a tougher call for Mikel Arteta to make on the left wing. Christos Tzolis was sharp on his return from injury last weekend against Liverpool at Anfield, but Eberechi Eze produced a strong display against Slavia to push his case.

Viktor Gyokeres produced a goal and an assist last time out, and will hope that’s enough to convince his manager to give him another run out, but we expect Kai Havertz to get the nod.

'Hull have a Plan A, Plan B and Plan C for Arsenal'

Sergej Jakirovic is looking for Hull to attack Arsenal this afternoon, otherwise fall to an inevitable defeat.

The Tigers are without a win in since late August, but have only been beaten twice in nine games.

“We have to be very solid, very aggressive, compact in challenges and duels and try to use some moments when we win the ball or some counter-attacks and also to be very, very responsible in set pieces,” he said.

“We tried something this week. We tried everything, Plan A, Plan B, even C, so we will see, but you don’t have a chance if you sit back in a 5-4-1. If you are passive, they will destroy you. You don’t have a chance. It has to be on the front foot. It has to be aggressive on the body, especially because they have a very, very high quality in their roster.

“We will try to do something there, and it’s about moments. We will try to go from being compact and organised in defence to go forward and use these moments.”

Arteta laughs off Rice criticisms

Mikel Arteta has dismissed the suggestion that Arsenal are not managing Declan Rice's minutes carefully enough.

After playing 69 matches for club and country last season, and has started all nine of the Gunners’ Premier League matches and has played the full 90 minutes in four of the last five.

Rice also started against Slavia Prague in midweek, while the likes of Martin Odegaard and Riccardo Calafiori dropped out of the starting lineup.

He said: "Concerns? The only player, the only player in this squad that for two games in the Carabao Cup has been left out of the squad. At home with two days off. That's my concern.

"It's not true. We are really looking after him more than any other season. The way he's training and all the load. That's it.

"Here are the demands of this football club and you have a player like him. Not only him because there are many others that have even less time. That's it.

"That has to be the mindset. If you start to put other things in your brain, damage. Erase them, get them in the bin and just focus on what you have to do."

Score prediction

Hull are expected to defend deep in a 5-4-1 formation and frustrate Arsenal for as long as possible.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side should have enough quality to break them down - is there where set-piece goals come back into the fray?

Arsenal to win, 2-0.

Raya; Timber, Konsa, Gabriel, Calafiori; Rice, Guimaraes; Madueke, Odegaard, Tzolis; Havertz

: Tzolakis; Coyle, Egan, Mendy, Ajayi, Giles; Belloumi, Slater, Iroegbunam, Stroud; McBurnie

Hull manager Sergej Jakirovic will be without midfielder Matt Crooks, who is suspended after receiving his fifth yellow card of the Premier League season against Ipswich.

Crooks joins Eliot Matazo, Matt Targett, Lucas Gourna-Douath, Ilyas Ansah, Darko Gyabi and Charlie Hughes on the injury list. Hidemasa Morita is also unavailable with a groin problem, while goalkeeper Jack Butland could return after recovering from an arm injury.

Striker Oli McBurnie escaped suspension against Ipswich but will miss Hull's match against Brighton on 22 November if he receives a booking at the Emirates.

Arsenal could welcome William Saliba back into the starting line-up today, after the defender returned to the matchday squad following a lengthy absence with a back injury.

Ezri Konsa is also expected to be available after being substituted with an issue against Slavia Prague. Injured Bukayo Saka and suspended youngster Max Dowman are the Gunners' only confirmed absentees.

Viktor Gyokeres is pushing to start after scoring and assisting in Prague, but Kai Havertz is expected to lead the attack following his decisive goal at Anfield, which made him the Premier League's highest-scoring German player.
