Atletico Madrid vs Manchester United LIVE
Manchester United visit Atletico Madrid this evening on matchday two of the league phase of the Champions League. The Red Devils make the trip to the Spanish capital off the back of a 4-0 victory over minnows Sabah FK in their opening game of their European campaign, which marked their return to UEFA’s top competition for the first time since 2023.
Michael Carrick’s men have struggled in the Premier League, however, winning just one of their first six matches. They sit 12th in the table, having drawn three and lost two of their other five games so far. Last time out, they were pegged back by the ten men of Tottenham at Old Trafford, as Dominic Solanke stole in to nod home a late equaliser and salvage a last-gasp point for Roberto De Zerbi’s Spurs, who hauled themselves off the foot of the division.
Atleti, meanwhile, are mourning the mother of captain Koke, and there will be black armbands and a minute’s silence this evening in her memory. Keep up to date with all the latest from the Estadio Metropolitano with our live blog below.

United are lacking in numbers, and look leaky in defence.
Atleti, meanwhile, are in good form, have home advantage, no injury problems, and will be playing with emotion on their side.
Atletico Madrid to win, 2-0.
Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo are both absent.
Neither player took part in training on Monday. Shaw was substituted in stoppage-time against Spurs and later spotted limping as he made his Old Trafford exit, while Mainoo completed the full 90 minutes.
Carrick confirmed that both had suffered knocks in that match.
Elsewhere, Benjamin Sesko continues to be sidelined with a shin problem, while Noussair Mazraoui is another that sits out. Patrick Dorgu remains out with a hamstring issue.
Matthijs de Ligt is back in the squad for the first time in nearly a year after a niggling back injury.
The only real concern for Atleti is whether Koke will play this evening.
The captain lost his mother tragically this morning, and as such, there will be a minute’s silence ahead of kick-off.
Kang-In Lee has struggled with an ankle injury, but he should be available to Diego Simeone here, making the squad.
