Barcelona vs Real Madrid LIVE: Clasico latest score, match stream, goal updates and fan reaction

One of football’s greatest derbies is staged for the first time this season

The first Clasico of the 2026/27 season is upon us, with Real Madrid visiting Barcelona for an evening of La Liga action. There is already plenty on the line tonight, with Jose Mourinho’s Real already falling off the pace in the title race. With nine matches played, Los Blancos sit third but six points adrift of the runaway leaders Barcelona, a deficit they could stand to halve tonight.

Hansi Flick’s Blaugrana, though, have made a riproaring start to the campaign, with their only defeat in all competitions coming last time out at the hands of European champions Paris Saint-Germain. The record remains spotless in the league, though, with 39 goals scored across nine victories. Real have two losses on their record already, both of which came away from home, and this will undoubtedly be their toughest road trip yet.

Real will be further shorthanded by the absence of star winger Vinicius Jr, who remains suspended after being sent off two weekends ago. Follow the match as it happens below with dedicated match blog, complete with expert insight and analysis.

Live updates

Here we go...

The players are out on the pitch, which can only mean that kick-off is coming up!

These matches do tend to be dramatic. Let’s see what this one has in store!

Team news reminder

With ten minutes to kick-off, a reminder of today’s starting lineups...

Joan García; Xavi Espart, Cubarsí, Gerard Martin, Cancelo; Rodri, Pedri, Fermín López; Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Gordon

Lunin; Valverde, Konaté, Huijsen, Cucurella; Bernardo Silva, Tchouaméni; Arda Güler, Bellingham, Diomande; Mbappé

This bitter, long-standing rivalry, will today stage its 265th edition. But who leads in the head-to-head?

It is remarkably even - there is only one match in it.

How did last season’s Clasicos shake out, you ask? Well, Barcelona won two of the three. Real took the spoils in the Supercopa before the Blaugrana pulled off a league double by an aggregate score of 5-2.

Barcelona wins: 106

Who is Courtois' backup?

The loss of Thibaut Courtois is a huge setback for Real Madrid this evening.

The Belgian is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the game, despite having turned 34 years old in May.

His deputy, Andriy Lunin, last made a competitive appearance in March, keeping a clean sheet as Real beat Espanyol 2-0.

He only made 13 appearances last campaign, though, and has now been thrown into the cauldron that is El Clasico to make his first of this season.

No pressure, Andriy.

Pre-match protests

Construction workers at the Nou Camp have been protesting outside the ground ahead of this match.

Who is going to win the Ballon d'Or - and who SHOULD win it?

There will be a number of Ballon d’Or hopefuls involved for either side today, not least Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal.

But who is actually going to win the thing? Perhaps more importantly, who win it?

Lucky for you, our reporters have had their say!

Thibaut Courtois is left out of the matchday squad altogther here, despite reports suggesting he had made himself available after recovering from the flu.

Fede Valverde does indeed appear to be lining up as a full-back, which he has made something of a habit of in recent weeks.

Jude Bellingham lines up as a No10, and Kylian Mbappe leads the line from Arda Guler and Yan Diomande.

Barcelona team news

Jules Kounde has not won his race against time to be passed fit for this match. He misses out, with his place taken by Joan Cancelo, with Xavi Espart on the opposite side.

Rodri and Pedri anchor the midfield, with Ballon d’Or hopeful Lamine Yamal up top opposite Anthony Gordon. Raphinha leads the line.

Olmo, Barghji, Christensen, E. Garcia, Kounde
