Beyonce’s mother Tina Knowles praised her daughter as “an extraordinary human being” in a heartfelt message celebrating her 45th birthday.

Fashion designer Knowles, 72, reminisced about giving birth to the US superstar as she marked the milestone with a sweet post to Instagram.

The US businesswoman shared a photo of herself looking “exhausted” on a maternity ward after giving birth to Beyonce, who is laid across her and bundled up in a white blanket.

The family photograph, shared to her 4.1 million followers, has the words “baby Beyonce” written over it along with the date September 4 1981, which is when it was originally taken.

In the caption, Knowles wrote: “Reminiscing on this day 45 years ago.

“You took nine hours to come. And I am exhausted on this photo, but the happiest I’ve ever been in my life up to this point on this day.

“We are making our first eye contact. The connection is so strong and so beautiful and so powerful.

“It’s never been broken and it never will.”

Knowles also said that “out of all the beautiful things about you” she loves Beyonce’s “huge heart” the most, which she called “the thing that I’m the most proud of”.

She added: “You are an extraordinary human being first.

“And even through all the sometimes terrible noise you keep going and moving forward.

“Creating, loving, lifting up others constantly making history, and using that genius mind, working your butt off, minding your own damn business, and living your life to the fullest.”

“Happy Birthday I love you,” Knowles wrote at the end of the post.

Beyonce marked the milestone with the release of special editions of her 2006 B’Day album, as its anniversary coincides with her special day.

The singer began her career alongside Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams in Destiny’s Child and has gone on to have six UK number one singles and five UK number one albums.

Knowles worked as a stylist for the superstar girl group and has helped Beyonce with outfits during her solo career and co-founded a fashion brand with her daughter.

Beyonce holds the record for the most Grammy wins and is the most-nominated artist in the awards’ history.

She married rapper Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, in 2008 and the couple have three children: Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir.
