Biker, aged 17, dies in coastal road crash in Aberdeenshire

A teenager has died in a motorbike crash in Aberdeenshire.

The collision happened on the B9031 near Pennan at about 17:30 on Monday.

Police said the 17-year-old male rider of a black Honda CB500 motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.

The road was closed for around six hours for accident investigators to examine the scene.

Sgt Peter Henderson, of the north east road policing unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the young male who died in this incident."

He said inquiries to establish the full circumstances were ongoing and he asked anyone with information to contact Police Scotland.
