The bomb squad has removed substances from a house after a man was found dead inside.

Merseyside Police said the man in his 20s was found in a property on Reedville in Oxton near Birkenhead, Wirral, just before 16:00 GMT on Saturday.

The force said his sudden death was being treated as "unexpected" and his next of kin had been told. A file has been passed to the coroner.

Police said the explosive ordnance disposal team removed "substances located inside the premises" as a precaution but "deemed there is no wider risk to the public at this stage".
