A teenager fatally stabbed in a council headquarters just yards from Wembley stadium has been pictured for the first time after ‘hero’ staff were praised for battling to save him. 

David Wynter, 17, died in an attack which left him laying dying in Brent Civic Centre on Tuesday afternoon. 

A boy, 15, has been charged his murder and was due to appear at the Old Bailey today.

Council workers were evacuated from their offices, as well as people from the library.

But the head of security at the Civic Centre told Metro his staff had ran to the teenager’s aid despite any fears they may have had for their own safety. 

He told : ‘The staff dived into help. It was all hands to the pump. I’m very proud of them.’

He added that staff has been offered counselling and support over the incident which unfolded in the foyer of the library.’ 

Another staff member said: ‘Our security and others were heroes in trying to help the boy. They didn’t run from danger. We are all very proud of them.’

The Civic Centre has remained closed since the killing to allow police to collect evidence. 

They are also trawling through the extensive CCTV footage from the centre and nearby Wembley stadium. 

Meanwhile witnesses described frantic scenes following the attack. 

A mother taking her son to an appointment at the council offices told : ‘I was walking down the building and he was literally downstairs in between the library and the foyer.

‘I still feel quite numb because there were many young children around the area when this happened and I cannot stop thinking about how traumatised they may have been. 

‘My son saw a female ambulance crew member in tears as we walked out. I think it was at the time he was pronounced dead.’
