A Florida mother is facing charges of child neglect after her nine-year-old son was injured when she allegedly left him home alone with his siblings to go to Las Vegas.
Irene Miller, 50, was arrested after deputies in Osceola County were called to her home on October 21, following a call from a child who said a dumbbell had fallen on her brother’s head.
Police who responded to the call found three other children, aged 14, 12 and 11, alone at the property with no adult present.
The injured boy was treated in hospital before being discharged.
Miller, who faces four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm, was tracked down by the sheriff’s office, and she told them she had gone to Vegas for work on October 18 and planned to return by October 23.

‘She told deputies that she had a babysitter coming from Tampa in the mornings to get the children ready for school and to check on them after school, but she did not require them to stay the night,’ Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said on its Facebook page.
The children were subsequently taken to stay with their father, while authorities made plans to meet Miller when she returned to Florida.
Bodycam footage shared on Facebook shows the authorities approaching Miller as she leaves her return flight home, before taking her to a police car.
She was subsequently booked into the county jail on the four charges.
