Brighton vs Arsenal LIVE: Premier League result, latest updates and fan reaction
Arsenal tasted defeat for the first time this season, losing in comprehensive fashion to Brighton at the Amex Stadium. The Gunners had arrived in East Sussex on Saturday afternoon on the back of seven straight wins, but a fourth away game in 10 days proved too much as they were convincingly swept aside by the Seagulls.
Pascal Gross blasted Brighton ahead after 31 minutes before Charalampos Kostoulas doubled the hosts’ lead on the stroke of half-time. The hosts remained on top after the interval and they served Arsenal a dose of their own medicine when Chema Andres headed home from a corner shortly before the hour mark.
A disjointed Arsenal were never at the races but for Brighton, this result– just days after a brilliant Carabao Cup comeback win at Manchester United in the Carabao Cup – catapults them up to third in the Premier League table table, just two points off the Gunners.
