Celebrity Traitors star Maya Jama praised for ‘generous donation’ to charity

A charity has said it is “absolutely thrilled” after receiving a “generous donation” from Maya Jama, who gave away what she would have won on Celebrity Traitors despite missing out on the prize pot.
The 32-year-old revealed she had made a donation to Action for Children on Saturday, despite being banished from the BBC reality show during Friday night’s dramatic final.
Viewers saw Jama narrowly miss out on the £83,000 prize money after her fellow traitor King Kenny voted against her at the final roundtable, helping to secure her elimination.
“Amazing cause.”
The charity confirmed Jama had donated £83,500.
Katherine Woods, director of fundraising at Action for Children, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to receive such a generous donation from Maya Jama.
“She certainly held her nerve until the very end and proved herself to be the star of the show.
“With four million children in the UK currently living in poverty, Maya’s own experiences of food insecurity growing up make this incredibly generous support even more meaningful.
“Every day, our frontline workers see the impact of families struggling to make ends meet, from parents fleeing domestic abuse to those facing impossible choices about how to provide for their children as the cost-of-living crisis continues to rise.
“Generous donations like Maya’s mean we can be there for families when they need us most, providing practical and emotional support so children across the UK can have the safe and happy childhood they deserve.
“Thank you, Maya.”

The episode concluded with actor Sebastian Croft and comedian Romesh Ranganathan emerging victorious as the final two contestants.
Heartstopper star Croft is donating his £41,500 share to the charity Choose Love, while Ranganathan is giving his to the Refugee Council.
