Charlotte Church will "pause" her wellness retreat from December to "germinate new dreams for the future", the star has shared.

The Dreaming, based in Rhydoldog House near Rhayader, Powys, offered retreats aimed at helping people reconnect with nature and spirituality.

The singer-songwriter bought the former home of fashion designer Laura Ashley in 2021, with its renovation later featuring in a Discovery Channel documentary series.

In a statement on social media, the team said the retreat had hosted more than 3,000 guests over the last five years, and wanted to "reassess" what it should offer in a changing world.

They said: "Through the harvest season, it is important to discern what requires attention from that which is falling away, what needs to be put to compost.

"We need the chance to compost, mulch, go fallow, listen deeply to the earth, so that we can germinate new dreams for the future."

The statement said the world was "different" today from when the project began and that The Dreaming needed to consider what services it should offer.

"As we stare clear-eyed at the exponentially complexifying crises that have been spreading out ahead of us all like cracking ice, we at The Dreaming need to reassess, with candour and courage, what it is we should be offering to be in service," it said.

The team said it could not give a date for when the retreat might return, but added: "We cannot say when exactly we will be returning from the dream realm, but return we shall."

Rhydoldog House. It is a large detached house surrounded by trees, and with a turret-like roof on one side. Half of the building is brick, the lower half is white.

Church bought the £1.5m, seven-bedroom property in 2021.

The house, with origins in the 15th Century, belonged to textile, fashion and retail entrepreneur Laura Ashley and her husband Bernard and owned by the family until his death in 2009.

A planning application for the retreat in 2021 said Church wanted to transform Rhydoldog House into a carbon neutral wellbeing and healing retreat with four log cabins in the grounds as tourist accommodation.
