Chelsea vs Bournemouth LIVE: Premier League result, latest updates and fan reaction
Chelsea vs Bournemouth LIVE
Joao Pedro and Jordan Henderson both scored braces as Chelsea hit Bournemouth for five to break their three-match winless run in the Premier League. The Blues had drawn with Hull and tasted defeat at Arsenal and Brentford in their previous three league outings, but any semblance of pressure on Xabi Alonso has now dissipated with this emphatic victory.
The Blues were 2-0 up after three minutes as Henderson scored first-time from the edge of the penalty area before teeing up Morgan Rogers to curl home from a similar area. Joao Pedro added a third 30 seconds into the second half. Bournemouth then enjoyed a fine spell and Evanilson turned home an errant Moises Caicedo clearance to cut the deficit.
But Chelsea were having none of it, with Joao Pedro offering another emphatic finish before Henderson buried a fine free-kick to take the goalscoring tally to five. It leaves Marco Rose in serious trouble, with his Cherries now winless in six Premier League matches. Didn’t quite have the aerial dominance of Lacroix but kept his concentration on an important afternoon for Chelsea.
Worked hard, as ever, at right wing-back and got his reward with a tackle by the by-line and unselfish cross to assist Joao Pedro just after the restart.
What a home debut. Scored a sensational opener and then a sublime free-kick and, in between them, put in an outstanding midfield performance. Exceptional. 36 years of age.
Another trademark scampering performance from the left wing-back, including a peach of a cross for Joao Pedro’s second goal.
89mins: For anyone wondering, Malo Gusto is indeed playing as one of the twin No10s after replacing Cole Palmer. He is pressing aggressively.
88mins: Henderson loses the ball to Alvaro, who bears down on goal and shoots wide via a deflection.
87mins: Malo Gusto will be the next man introduced. He replaces Cole Palmer.
83mins: Two more changes for the Blues. Rogers and Neto come off for Estevao and Welbeck.
Both Rogers and Neto have been imperious today.
82mins: Bournemouth are looking to restore some dignity and get another point on the board, but they just can’t find a way through Chelsea’s back line. Speculative crosses are being gobbled up by Martinez.
77mins: Mike Penders is stripped and ready to come on if need be, but Martinez will carry on for now.
75mins: Emi Martinez is down injured and holding his groin after making a high claim under pressure. Appears it may have been, shall we say, an unfortunate collission with Maxence Lacroix.
