France will conclude their involvement in the extended autumn international break on Monday night when they host Belgium in Paris, seeking to keep hold of top spot League A, Group 1.
However, Zinedine Zidane will have to make do without central defender Dayot Upamecano after the Bayern Munich star was sent-off in Friday’s draw against Italy.
As Upamecano was dismissed for two bookable offences, he has triggered an automatic one-match ban that rules him out of the showdown with Belgium.
In fact, the French Football Federation have since issued a statement confirming the defender was released from international duty on Saturday, signalling his early return to Munich.
With a replacement for Upamecano unlikely to be called up, it means Zidane is set to work the same pool of players from the Italy game.
In terms of central defenders at Zidane’s disposal - with Arsenal’s William Saliba also sidelined through injury - Jeremy Jacquet appears to have nailed down a starting role after impressing in his first two appearances at senior level.
"Very good. Very, very good. Brave,” Zidane said of the Liverpool youngster’s performance against Italy.
"He wasn't afraid to come out a long way. Very good in the duels. He was, once again, very good. I said it four times."
If Zidane sticks with Jacquet against Belgium, Lacroix is the favourite to take Upamecano’s place in the team. This is based on the fact that the Chelsea defender was sent on against Italy following the red card.
Although, Zidane also has the option of handing Yoro a senior international debut. The Man United youngster has received a maiden call-up to the France squad, stepping replace Ibrahima Konate after the Real Madrid summer signing withdrew due to injury.
The 20-year-old has been an unused substitute in all three games so far and will have to impress Zidane in training to get the nod over Lacroix.
