Harriet Cowan has addressed her on-screen tension with Clarkson’s Farm co-star Kaleb Cooper, stating that the farmhand was “frosty” with her.

The 25-year-old joined the team at Diddly Squat farm for season four of the popular Amazon Prime show.

The Derbyshire-based young farmer was brought on as a replacement for Cooper, who was absent for several episodes as he embarked on a book tour.

Cowan, who was also a nurse, departed the Oxfordshire farm halfway through the series when she was no longer needed, but quickly became a fan favourite.

However, Cooper did not seem too impressed with Cowan’s presence on the farm, “inspecting” her work as soon as he returned and questioning whether she had been properly fertilising the field.

"Right, now that's Harriet. Now, be nice, behave,” Clarkson warned Cooper.

Speaking to The Telegraph, the 25-year-old confirmed that Cooper did in fact welcome with a “frosty” reception, stating that he seemed “p***** off”.

“But it wasn’t because of me as a person, or me as a woman. It was because he’d been away for so long on a tour bus,” she clarified.

“He’s like me, he’s a homebody. Eight weeks driving around, not with family, or being on a tractor. Then you come home and find out someone else has been doing your job? I’d be p***** off.”

Cowan said that the pair have since “cleared the air” and are now on great terms.

She reasoned that Cooper just needed to get back to farming after being away for so long, and said that the pair have since regularly worked together.

Cowan also added that despite her success on the show, she has no plans on returning following a brief cameo in series five, citing the distance from her own farm in Derbyshire.

“It’s just a long way away to drive,” she explained.

In the final two episodes of series five of the Amazon Prime show, Clarkson told co-stars Charlie Ireland and Cooper that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Whilst he said the cancer was aggressive, it had been caught at a “really early” stage.

Providing an update on the 66-year-old, she said: “Yeah, he’s all right now. He’s happy, he’s farming, he’s back on a tractor.”
