A car some might have thought was a police car with distinctive Battenburg markings along its side was seized by officers because it was being driven illegally.
Thames Valley Police (TVP) said it was stopped on the A33 in Reading, Berkshire, and that the driver had no insurance and had not paid tax on the vehicle.
It had missing wheel nuts on both of its rear wheels and had no valid MOT. The car was taken away on the back of a recovery truck.
A dog being carried in the car – which had "dog section" written down its side – spent a night "somewhere a little safer", while the car's owner arranged a lift home, TVP said.
