Delta Goodrem is leading the Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard for a second week running.

After topping the leaderboard last week, Goodrem and professional partner Kai Widdrington were given a score of 33 for their salsa on the latest episode of the BBC series.

Judge Anton Du Beke said the Australian singer was “setting a very high bar” this season, while Craig Revel Horwood called her performance “amazing”.

The latest episode kicked off with a samba performed by EastEnders actress Lacey Turner and her professional partner Vito Coppola – with the pair securing a score of 26.

Despite getting a score of 15 for his quickstep – which has also left him at the bottom of the leaderboard – former footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips was told by Du Beke he had “all the components to be a super, super dancer”.

Graeme Hall and Lauren Oakley – who were second on the leaderboard last week – got a score of 25 this week for their jive, while John Nellis and Katya Jones received 20 for their cha cha cha.

Olympian Tabby Stoecker was also told by Mabuse that she was the “dark horse” of the competition. She received 31 points after performing an Argentine tango with partner Mark Karmalita.

After finishing at the bottom of the leaderboard last week, Gavin and Stacey actress Melanie Walters performed a Charleston this week with partner Aljaz Skorjanec.

Although Revel Horwood said he loved the dance style, he told the actress that it “wasn’t your thing”. They were awarded a total of 17 points from the judges.

Also remaining on the bottom half of the leaderboard was Paralympian Dame Sarah Storey and Julian Caillon with a score of 20 for their paso doble.

While Du Beke called it “dramatic and dynamic”, Revel-Horwood said it was a “little bit stiff and lacked power”.

Performing the first rumba of the season, Emmerdale’s Lawrence Robb and Jowita Przystal scored 20 points.

Last week actress Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu competed in the first dance-off.

Reflecting on being close to be the first contestant eliminated, Winstone held back tears and said it was “terrifying”.

However, after performing a Viennese Waltz – she was awarded 28 points and told by Du Beke it was her “best dance yet”, while Motsi Mabuse called her “one of our strongest dancers” this season.

Last week, Chris Appleton has become the first contestant to be eliminated from this season.

The celebrity hair stylist, 43, had been paired with professional dancer Amy Dowden, 36.

After his elimination, Appleton said: “I think it’s been such a whirlwind of emotion. I’m 43 and I got good at doing what I did – which is hair. To come and do something like this, I felt so out of my comfort zone and saw myself in a way I never saw myself, and it challenged me in ways I never knew I could be challenged.

“I am very grateful for everyone who has been involved. It’s been so amazing to be part of something that I grew up watching and got to be a part of it.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues at 7.10pm Sunday on BBC One.
