Drug driver banned after crashing into pole

A drug-driver who crashed into a pole after falling asleep at the wheel has been handed a suspended prison sentence and been banned from driving.

Emma Dutton, from Wallingford, drove her car into a pole on Stadhampton Road, Little Milton in Oxfordshire on 5 February this year.

In footage of the incident shared by Thames Valley Police, Dutton's car can be seen failing to follow a bend in the road and instead continuing onto a grass verge before striking the pole.

The 43-year-old was later found to be over the drug-drive limit for cocaine, and during a hearing at Oxford Magistrates' Court on 8 October received a two-year suspended prison sentence alongside a 22-month driving ban.

She had previously pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and drug driving.
