But Kane then hit the bar with a penalty, and Spain came roaring back to win thanks to goals from Alex Baena and Mikel Oyarzabal.

Joined in with attacks and was generally solid. Headed over the bar with a decent chance.

Not a good night from the Manchester City man, whose terrible backpass gifted Yamal the opener in the second minute. Booked.

Did OK and used his physicality when he needed to. Shown a yellow card for a foul.

Worked very hard but Spain too easily bypassed him in midfield.

The best player on the pitch, alongside Yamal. Assisted Gordon, won the penalty Kane missed, and was absolutely everywhere.

A constant thorn in Spain’s side, the Barcelona winger ran them ragged and scored England’s fantastic equaliser when he ran through and calmly converted.

Scored his first career goal against Spain to put England ahead with a heavily deflected header but was unable to make it 3-1, slipping at the crucial moment and hitting a penalty against the bar, uncharacteristically.

Found himself in an unfamiliar position late on and his cross was poor.

Didn’t manage to make much of an impact when he came on, despite intense pressing. One very poor cross ballooned out of play.
