'Everyone in the Big Brother house was just crying'

An 18-year-old Big Brother contestant says she achieved her dream - but appearing on the show was a challenging experience.

Charlotte Nott, who lost parts of her arms and legs to meningitis when she was two, made a memorable entrance to the house when she removed her prosthetic legs after breaking her shoe while stepping on to the stage.

But after 13 days, Nott, from Oxford, made the decision to leave after reaching her "breaking point".

Speaking to BBC Radio Oxford, she described the experience as stressful and restrictive, but said she was happy to have done it.

"Everything is out of your control. You can't even sing. If you start singing, they tell you to stop," she said.

"You have no control over anything. I think it's just taught me a lot about myself."

Nott, who had dreamed about entering the Big Brother house for most of her life, applied in the last week of auditions.

She said she had little memory of her entrance.

"You're going on the stage, and you're on the massive screen and there's like 500 people staring at you. Your adrenaline is so high that you just forget," she said.

"I've watched clips of me in there but I haven't watched it back when I walked in. I'm too scared."

She admitted the intensity of the show did get to her.

"Everyone was just crying every day," she said. "It wasn't like torture, but I think you just get used to it."

A young girl who is missing the lower parts of her arms sat on a chair, wearing headphones plugged into a phone on a pink detachable stand, looking into the camera and pouting.

She said viewers had only seen part of what went on.

"There's so much that they haven't shown, like so many arguments, so much stuff that they couldn't even show on TV because it became too sensitive," she said.

Nott said the constant intensity eventually became too much.

"That was just my breaking point. I just thought there's no way," she said.

But she added that, overall, she had a good experience and was happy to have gone in.

"My dream was to go on it and I've gone on it," she said. "I've had a massive response, so I'm happy."

The 23rd series of Big Brother began on 13 September and is due to run for 54 days.
