The family of a man who was killed in three-vehicle crash in the Borders have described him as a "gentle, kind, loving soul".

Peter Brown, 43, who was known as Richard, died at the scene of the accident on the A6089, near the village of Gordon.

He was driving a Ford Focus when it was involved in a collision, with a Toyota Hilux and a Tesla Model S, at about 17:55 on 27 October.

In a statement, his family said he would be "deeply missed by his heartbroken parents, wider family and many friends".

It added: "The family wishes to thank the emergency services who attended the scene of the crash and everything that they did to try and save Richard.

"The caring support of Police Scotland traffic division has been exceptional.

"The help of motorists who assisted is also greatly appreciated."

The driver of the Toyota was taken to Borders General Hospital while the Tesla driver did not require hospital treatment.

Sgt Barry Sommerville said: "Our thoughts remain with Richard's family and friends at this difficult time.

"Our inquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing and I would again appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information that may assist to contact us."
