A father and son who tried to smuggle £900,000 of cannabis into Scotland have been jailed.
Stephen Harding, 67, and Bradley Harding, 37, were stopped at Glasgow Airport by Border Force officials on 23 November 2024.
The pair, from Tamworth in Staffordshire, had travelled from Thailand with four cases between them.
The High Court in Glasgow heard there were dozens of vacuum sealed packages of green herbal material stashed inside.
As the luggage was checked Stephen was asked if he knew what was inside.
He replied: "I have a good idea."
Prosecutor Jennifer Nicholson-White said the potential value of the drug haul was more than £903,000.
The Hardings admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis.
The hearing was told of mixed accounts of why they got involved in the crime.
One claimed it was because of threats from loan sharks to repay a debt while another suggested they were due to be paid £10,000 to smuggle the drugs.
Lord Scott said Stephen had previously been in the military for 14 years "which made it all the more sad" he now found himself in a high court dock
He was jailed for two years.
Bradley was sentenced to three years and two months.
It will run alongside a jail-term for violence imposed in England.
It is not scheduled to see him freed until 2028 meaning he will serve no extra time in prison.
