Firefighters are attending the scene of a fire at the former Crumlin Road courthouse in north Belfast.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service says it has "five fire appliances and an aerial appliance in attendance dealing with this ongoing incident".

It added that "members of the public are asked to please avoid the area to help support firefighting operations".

Designed by Sir Charles Lanyon in the 1840s, the courthouse is one of Northern Ireland's most distinctive buildings.

It closed in 1998, after nearly 150 years of use, but had already been damaged by previous fires.
