Five buses collided outside a busy London Underground station, causing traffic “chaos”.
One person was assessed by paramedics after the crash on London Road near Morden Station on Tuesday evening.
Photos and footage from the scene show one vehicle with major damage to its front left corner, with another sustaining cracks across its lower windscreen.
Workers in high-visibility clothing could be seen inspecting one of the damaged buses.
One local said that the crash had caused the entire bus terminus to be blocked.
He wrote: “Traffic chaos. Guess I’ll walk home then…”
A nearby shopkeeper said he heard a “huge sound" at the time of the crash.
He said: "I think the buses were trying to reverse and then they smashed into each other.”
“When it happened, it sounded like a bomb had gone off," he added.
The circumstances of the crash remain unclear.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 5.54pm on Tuesday 3 November to reports of a road traffic collision on London Road, Morden.
"We sent an ambulance crew and an incident response officer to the scene. We assessed a person and discharged them at the scene."
A spokesperson for Transport for London (TfL) told The Standard: “We are working with the operator, Go Ahead, to investigate a bus collision at Morden bus station on Tuesday, where thankfully no one was injured.
“Safety is our top priority and support is available for anyone affected by this incident.”
TfL investigations remain ongoing, with work continuing to confirm all vehicles involved.
