Five teenagers were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a car crash in the Peak District.

The three teenage girls and two teenage boys were travelling in a blue Suzuki Swift when it crashed near the village of Chelmorton, Derbyshire, police said.

Derbyshire Constabulary said officers were called to the scene of the single-vehicle collision just after 2am on Saturday.

It happened on the A5270 Old Coalpit Lane, close to the junction of the A515.

Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The teenagers' parents have all been informed.

Derbyshire Constabulary said in a statement: “Officers are now keen to hear from those who may have been driving in the area at the time and saw the Suzuki prior to the collision.

“In particular anyone with dashcam that may have captured footage of the car.

“Anyone who can help with the enquiries has been asked to contact the force via their website, the Derbyshire Constabulary Facebook page or by calling 101, quoting reference 26000688247.
