Former Bake Off star in court accused of ‘making indecent images of a child’

Former Great British Bake Off contestant John Mincher is due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court next month over indecent child images.
The 39-year-old, who competed in the Channel 4 baking competition in 2024, attended Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court on Friday, October 16.
He pleaded not guilty to a charge of making two indecent images of a child.
Mincher, who was arrested in August, is accused of having two Category A images on one of his devices.

Deputy District Judge Kate Harney told Mincher he is accused of “incredibly serious offences”.
Mincher, an NHS worker, has been released on conditional bail and is due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on November 16.
Mincher appeared on the 15th series of The Great British Bake Off, which aired in 2024. He was named Star Baker in the opening episode of the series and received a handshake from judge Paul Hollywood.
However, he left the competition two weeks later during bread week.
In September, he shared a post about his birthday with an update on his recovery, writing: “So this is 39… thanks for the birthday love yesterday. Another ‘first’ without my Mom so it was a quiet one.
“I used to hate thinking about getting old but I’ve realised more than ever it’s a privilege getting old that some aren’t fortunate enough to have.
“Look close and you can still see my dodgy eye which I still can’t see out of properly, if you see me and you’re on my left… not ignoring you.”
