Four hospitalised and seven arrested after stabbing on London high street

Seven people have been arrested after multiple people were stabbed in south-east London, Metropolitan Police said.

Four men were taken to hospital after being found with stab wounds during an incident on Bromley High Street on Thursday afternoon.

One of the men is in a critical condition, the force added.

London Ambulance Service was called to Bromley High Street after reports of a stabbing at 2.19pm on Thursday.

Ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer, an advanced paramedic and London’s Air Ambulance were dispatched to the scene, the service confirmed.

In a statement, Met Police said: “At around 14:15hrs on Thursday, 10 September, officers were called to reports of an altercation on Bromley High Street.

“Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance and found four men with stab wounds.

“Three of them were taken to hospital where they are receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

“One is in a critical condition.

“Seven men were arrested and remain in custody.

“Police enquiries continue and there is not believed to be any wider threat to the public.”

Forensic investigators in Bromley following the incident

A picture shared on X on Thursday afternoon appeared to show a section of Bromley High Street cordoned off, with an emergency vehicle on site.

Another post on X read: “Been watching from my balcony! Endless sirens and all the various emergency services attending.”

A section of the High Street was closed and traffic was slow around the area of the incident on Thursday afternoon, the AA said.

Some 15 bus routes were diverted, including the 61, 208 and 119.

Forensic officers and a crime scene photographer were working inside and outside the KFC restaurant on the High Street, and there were evidence markers on the floor.

Bromley and Biggin Hill MP Peter Fortune said on X: “I am aware of the incident on Bromley High Street this afternoon and I know that residents will have safety concerns.

“The police are in attendance and have made a number of arrests.

“I will remain in close contact with the police as they continue to investigate this incident.”
