During a summer when they signed 10 new first-team players, Chelsea were just as busy on the selling front.

The Blues recouped a new global record in terms of sales, amassing a total of £400million.

Internally, they believe that total exits, including loan fees and all potential add-ons, could rise to €600m.

Some of those ex-Chelsea players have started brightly at their new clubs, others not so much.

Here, assesses how they are faring since waving goodbye to Stamford Bridge.

The Enzo Fernandez move to Manchester City was the biggest saga of the summer transfer window and finally concluded on Deadline Day, when Chelsea equalled a British football record by recouping £125m for the Argentine.

Fernandez was wanted by Enzo Maresca, the City manager who was a big fan of his when head coach at Chelsea, and he was delighted to have got his man. Maresca has been playing him regularly.

Gradually increasing his minutes in each game, that culminated in the full 90 for the first time in City’s last match against Sunderland, when he opened the scoring in a pulsating 5-3 home win with a nonchalant free-kick.

It has been a very strong start to life at Real Madrid for Marc Cucurella, who has nailed down the left-back spot under new manager Jose Mourinho, ahead of Alvaro Carreras and Ferland Mendy.

Cucurella’s form dipped in the second half of last season, but he was always going to be a big loss for Chelsea once his sale was confirmed right at the beginning of the World Cup.

One ex-Chelsea star whose new chapter has not started quite so well is Andrey Santos. The Brazilian moved to Manchester United in July for a fee of £48m that could reach £52m including add-ons.

Santos has played just three times and a total of only 83 minutes of Premier League football this season for the Red Devils, who have had a less-than-ideal start to the season under Michael Carrick.

The Brazilian midfielder has not impressed and now faces a fight to start more regularly after sitting on the bench for two weekends in a row.

After spending the vast majority of his career at Chelsea, Trevoh Chalobah finally moved on this summer when he was sold to Como.

The centre-back has made an early impression at the Italian club, and played the full 90 minutes in their maiden Champions League fixture - the 4-3 win over RB Leipzig.

Head coach Cesc Fabregas has played him for the full 90 in four of Como’s first five Serie A matches, benching him in the other, and his form and favour with England boss Thomas Tuchel saw him called up for the four Nations League games during the current international window.

He will hope to add to his two senior England caps to date.

As one of the senior players at Chelsea, Tosin Adarabioyo was increasingly playing a supporting role with the Blues. It has been no different since he moved to Tottenham in the final days of the transfer window, along with Mykhailo Mudryk.

Tosin came on for the final five minutes of the goalless draw with Everton, and that has been the extent of his Premier League action for Spurs so far.

His only other appearance saw him play the full 90 minutes of Tottenham’s 3-1 Carabao Cup third-round defeat by Liverpool.

One of the most impressive starts to life away from Stamford Bridge in the early weeks of the season belongs to Nicolas Jackson.

The striker’s loan move to Bayern Munich last term never became permanent, and Chelsea eventually agreed a deal to sell him to Aston Villa for £65m.

Jackson has been a handful for defenders coming up against Unai Emery’s side. Their squad may have been decimated over the summer, but Jackson has been a breath of fresh air at Villa Park.

The Senegal international netted the third of Villa’s goals in their 3-2 win over Club Brugge on Champions League opening night, and his volleyed finish last weekend helped Villa overcome Spurs in the Premier League by the same scoreline.

Another striker, another success story post-Chelsea (so far). Liam Delap netted only three times in his one season in west London and has already looked sharper and happier at Nottingham Forest.

They certainly paid a premium for the Englishman, committing £45m plus £5m in potential add-ons.

Delap scored a stunner from range that helped Forest earn a memorable 2-1 away win at Villa and was bright throughout that game as his new fanbase began to appreciate why the club had brought him in.

He has, though, been booked in both of their last two games.

There were plenty of Chelsea fans sorry to see the club sell Tyrique George, a promising emerging talent and Cobham academy graduate. It is easy to see why.

George, having returned to Everton, where he spent the second half of last season on loan, has started regularly on the left flank for David Moyes.

And when he popped up on the right in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United, he lashed the ball into the top corner with an unerring finish that announced his permanent arrival at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton expect big things of the 20-year-old England Under-21s winger in the years to come.
