Graham Potter has taken an unsubtle swipe at his former employers Chelsea and West Ham in a surprise social media outburst.
Potter now works as head coach of the Swedish national team, having endured turbulent spells at both Stamford Bridge and the London Stadium in recent years.
He was dismissed by the Blues less than one season into a five-year deal, having won just 12 of his 31 matches in charge.
Potter then returned to the touchline after a two-year hiatus, taking over West Ham in January 2025. He was sacked in the early stages of the 2025/26 campaign, though, leaving the side 19th in the Premier League after five matches.
Both stints were undercut by boardroom chaos, and in a new Instagram post, Potter has gone to bat for himself.
He shared photos of himself taking a Pilates lesson, under which a fan commented: “Hopefully you are better at Pilates than you are a football manager.”
Potter hit back: “I’ll try not to do Pilates in a dysfunctional place and I will be ok.”
Pressed in a reply as to which job he was referring to, he wrote: “Easy tiger. I never mentioned West Ham or any club.”
In a further reply to a supporter telling him to “ignore the haters,” Potter added: “Of course I am responsible for my part but unfortunately lots happen at football clubs to determine success or failure, not just one man! COYI.”
Potter’s West Ham tenure ended on rather unsavoury terms, with the club languishing in the relegation zone having taken three points from their opening five Premier League games.
He was made to work through a period of concerted fan unrest, with multiple home matches preceded by well-attended demonstrations against David Sullivan and Karren Brady.
His tenure with the Swedish national team, though, has been far more positive. Potter made a prompt impact to rescue their World Cup qualification campaign and progressed to the knockout stages of the summer tournament after finishing third in a tricky group. They were knocked out in the last-32 by France.
