Nigeria face Guinea-Bissau today as the Super Eagles continue their qualification campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. Eric Chelle’s side are strong favourites to take control of a group that also contains AFCON co-hosts Tanzania and Madagascar, whom they beat last Friday. However, they will have to cope without Victor Osimhen, as their star striker is not involved once again as he recovers from a groin injury suffered on club duty with Galatasaray earlier this season.
He was replaced in the lineup by Al-Ittihad striker George Ilenikhena and he marked his senior debut with the equaliser as Nigeria made hard work of Madagascar in their first outing since the Unity Cup and a pair of pre-World Cup friendlies against Poland and Portugal in the summer. Another debutant in Moses Usor completed the turnaround to ensure the Super Eagles made a winning start to qualification.

AFCON 2027 co-hosts Tanzania have already qualified for next summer's tournament, despite being placed in Group L.
As a result, it means Nigeria have very little margin for error as only the highest-placed team, along with Tanzania, will advance to next year's finals.
The three-time AFCON winners know all too well the risks of getting off to a slow start in qualification as they set out to make up for the disappointment of missing out on yet another World Cup earlier in the summer.
