Harry Potter actor Tom Felton ‘nearly cried’ as Warwick Davis saw Broadway show
Harry Potter actor Tom Felton has said he “nearly cried on stage” when his former co-star and “dear friend” Warwick Davis watched his Broadway show.
The 38-year-old rose to fame in the early 2000s as villain Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film franchise, which is based on the bestselling books by JK Rowling.
The actor reprised the role after nearly 15 years to play an adult version of his character in the stage production of the series – Harry Potter And The Cursed Child – at New York’s Lyric Theatre.
Felton shared a series of sweet snaps to Instagram on Friday as he reunited with Davis, who starred alongside him for a decade in the blockbusters as Professor Filius Flitwick.
The 56-year-old star was seen embracing Felton, who also shared a polaroid photo of the pair labelled “Draco x Flitwick”, and a video together outside the stage door in front of fans.
“Let’s hear some noise,” Felton exclaims in the clip, as Davis waves to the screaming crowd.
Beneath the post, Felton wrote: “Had a special guest and dear friend come see the show tonight.”
“Tbh I nearly cried on stage saying ‘Wingardium Leviosa’ knowing he was watching @WarwickaDavis #SwishAndFlick.”
One of Davis’s most memorable scenes was in the 2001 film – Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone – when he was teaching the students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry how to make objects levitate.
Professor Flitwick encouraged the students to “swish and flick” their wands as they cast the spell, “Wingardium Leviosa”.
Since the ending of the film franchise, Felton has been in 2011’s Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and had recurring roles in the TV series Murder In The First, The Flash and Origin.
Felton made his West End debut in 2022 and his first appearance on Broadway was in 2025, when he joined the Harry Potter stage show.
His casting sparked public interest in the production, and he has extended his Broadway run multiple times due to high demand – and will continue to appear in the show until January 3 2027.
The play is set 19 years after the events of the seventh and final book and follows the children of Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy as they navigate life at Hogwarts.
