Four flights, including one from London, have been evacuated following reports of bomb threats.

A passenger plane travelling from London Heathrow made an unscheduled landing in Warsaw this morning amid a series of threats targeting flights across Europe.

The aircraft, carrying 181 people, was diverted to Warsaw Modlin Airport, which was temporarily closed while specialists carried out security checks. It reopened at around midday.

Flight LO286 was one of several affected, with further incidents reported in Poland, Spain and Bulgaria.

An SAS flight from Copenhagen was also inspected at Warsaw Chopin Airport following a bomb threat, according to Danish media. The aircraft landed as scheduled.

In Spain, a Ryanair plane from Manchester carrying 121 passengers made an emergency landing at Murcia Airport following a separate threat.

Meanwhile, Bulgarian media reported that a plane travelling from Israel landed at Sofia Airport after a bomb threat was received by email.

It is understood all four flights landed safely.

The incidents come just a day after a Wizz Air flight from London Luton made an emergency landing in Budapest, escorted by a Hungarian fighter jet, following a bomb threat.

Flight LO286 from Heathrow landed at Warsaw Modlin Airport on Tuesday just seven minutes after the alarm was raised, according to media reports.

The airport was closed as security operations got underway.

LOT Polish Airlines said it was notified by airport authorities of a “potential security threat on board a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft operating flight LO286 from London to Warsaw.”

The aircraft was diverted to Warsaw Modlin Airport, where it landed and subsequently taxied to a designated parking stand.

In an update on Tuesday, LOT Polish Airlines said: “The aircraft security inspection has been completed, with no suspicious items found.

“Passengers are currently undergoing border control checks and will be transferred to Warsaw Chopin Airport by coach once the procedures have been completed. The unloading of checked baggage is now underway.”

Later, The Government Delegate for the Region, Francisco Lucas, said on X that was due to a ‘bomb threat’ and that the aircraft was being inspected.

“Security protocol activated due to a bomb threat on a flight from Manchester that has landed in Murcia,” he wrote.

“The 114 passengers and 7 crew members have disembarked and are undergoing a security check. At this time, the aircraft is being inspected.”

In an update, he confirmed Spanish police had ruled out the presence of a bomb.

The Scandinavian SAS airline said in a statement today that a “threat had been made” against flight SK751 between Copenhagen and Warsaw.

The airline said: “We can confirm that a threat has been made against flight SK751 between Copenhagen and Warsaw.

“The aircraft landed normally in Warsaw and the passengers have disembarked. We are following established security procedures while taking care of our passengers and crew.

“The matter is now being handled by the police in Warsaw, and we are following their instructions. We refer any further questions regarding the threat to the relevant authorities and the police in Warsaw.”

“Guardia Civil has ruled out the presence of explosives on the plane from Manchester following its inspection,” he wrote on X.

“The International Airport of the Region of Murcia resumes its activity normally. Thanks to the emergency teams that have participated in the operation.”

It is understood London Heathrow passengers’ luggage was inspected as they touched down at the Polish airport. One of the passengers onboard the flight was told to wait in the arrivals hall.

“The bomb threat was called off … Following the completion of operations by the relevant services, Warsaw Modlin Airport has returned to normal functioning,” the airport confirmed.

The incidents today come just one day after a Wizz Air flight that took off from London Luton was forced to make an emergency landing in Budapest after a mid-air bomb threat.

The plane, travelling to Sofia in Bulgaria, was escorted by a Hungarian fighter jet before making the emergency landing at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International.

Authorities there "carried out the necessary security checks on the aircraft and passengers", a spokesperson for Wizz Air said.

The airline later confirmed an inspection had been "completed and nothing was found".

Hungarian defence minister Romulusz Ruszin-Szendis confirmed his country provided the fighter jet to escort the flight.
