This is the harrowing moment a young mother-of-two plunged to her death after a seventh-floor window gave way.
Renata Rebeca Negrão Saldanha dos Santos, 26, fell from a window in a hallway in the Rio Poty Hotel in São Luís, Brazil, at around 1.30am on Tuesday.
CCTV footage showed her walking through the corridor with her boyfriend. She was seen leaning on the wall next to the window, before putting her weight on the window itself.
Without warning, the aluminum frame gave way and she fell through.
Her boyfriend, who has not yet been identified, was seen staring at the open window for several seconds before sticking his head through it.
A member of hotel staff walked by after hearing the commotion. The boyfriend sat down and raised his hands.
Local media reported she fell onto a canopy covering the hotel's entrance. While she received some medical attention, she sadly did not survive the incident.
Police are investigating the incident as an accident. After initially detaining and questioning the boyfriend, they released him.
