Taylor Swift has finally revealed what all those mysterious zeroes were about and Swifties have just hours left to get their hands on a limited-edition version of her new single.

The pop superstar sent fans into full detective mode earlier this week after quietly replacing the letter “o” with zeros across her social media accounts.

Naturally, Swifties began doing what Swifties do best: investigating every possible clue.

And on Tuesday evening (September 22), the mystery was finally solved.

Swift announced that her brand-new single, Patient Zero, will be released on Friday, September 25, with fans able to pre-order collector’s editions from her official UK store for a limited time.

The physical editions are only available until 6.59pm today (September 23), or while stocks last, so fans hoping to add one to their collection will need to move quickly.

Swifties can head to Taylor Swift’s official UK store and choose from three different collector’s edition CDs.

All three cost £4.49 and contain one track, with each edition featuring its own double-sided collectible cover and disc artwork.

Each CD is limited to two copies per customer and is available to UK and Republic of Ireland customers. The store currently says orders are expected to ship around October 13.

Swift also confirmed that the song will be released digitally on Friday, meaning fans do not need to buy a physical copy to hear it.

Patient Zero will be released on Friday, September 25.

Swift announced the track on Instagram on Tuesday, writing: “I’ve been impatiently waiting to tell you that my brand new single ‘Patient Zero’ will be out on September 25 (!!!!!!!!!!!!) and it’s available to pre-order now on my website for 24 hours.”

The announcement came after the singer's website displayed a countdown which had sent fans into a frenzy of speculation.

And, because this is Taylor Swift, the clues did not stop there.

Before revealing the single, Swift changed the wording of her Instagram bio to read: “And, baby, that’s sh0w business f0r y0u.”

Fans also spotted zeroes appearing elsewhere online, including in lyrics displayed on music streaming services.

The zeroes led to a whole host of theories, with some fans convinced they were clues about a much bigger announcement.

There was even speculation that Swift could finally be preparing to announce Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version), although the singer has not confirmed any such project.

Swift has become famous for burying clues and Easter eggs in her music videos, social media posts, outfits and even seemingly throwaway comments, so fans were understandably reluctant to believe the zeroes were simply a very elaborate way of announcing one song.

But for now, Patient Zero is the only thing Swift has officially confirmed.

The latest mystery also follows Swift’s surprise appearance during a sketch at the 2026 Emmy Awards earlier this month.

The singer appeared as a rookie detective in a spoof of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit alongside Mariska Hargitay, who plays Olivia Benson in the long-running crime drama.

During the sketch, Swift looked directly into the camera and said: “I think what we’re looking for is going to be hiding in plain sight.”

Some fans subsequently interpreted the sketch as another clue pointing towards a re-recording or new music announcement.

Swift has not confirmed those theories, however.

For now, Swift is keeping the details of the song firmly under wraps.

The singer has revealed the title, artwork and release date, but has not yet shared the full lyrics or explained what Patient Zero means.

The single will arrive just two days before the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, where Swift is set to receive the inaugural Artist Director honour for her work in visual storytelling. She is also nominated for several awards at this year’s ceremony.
