West Ham commence their return to the Championship today when they take on fellow relegated side Burnley at Turf Moor.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side embark on life back in the second tier for the first time since 2012.

The Irons come into the campaign hot favourites to bounce straight back into the Premier League, having managed to keep the services of captain and talisman Jarrod Bowen.

They have also been bolstered by the return of Edson Alvarez from his loan at Fenerbahce, but his future remains up in the air with the transfer window still open.

The same can be said of several of their other former Premier League stars, with the likes of former Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Jean-Clair Todibo, El Hadji Malick Diouf, Alphonse Areola and Konstantinos Mavropanos all linked with moves away from the London Stadium.

Burnley, meanwhile, have signed Chelsea’s young Kazakh star Dastan Satpayev on loan to boost their attacking line, while they open a new chapter under Nicky Hayen, who is looking to guide the Clarets back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
