United were poor in the first half against Ipswich but put in a marked improvement in the second half at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes netted a hat-trick, with a Jacob Greaves own goal and Bryan Mbeumo completing the scoring for the home side.

The Red Devils will be hoping to build on their third-placed finish last term, with a return to Champions League football potentially throwing a spanner in the works for Carrick’s preparations for the campaign.
