A large group of protesters wearing black and covering their faces with balaclavas have shut down roads around the Port of Dover.

The protestors have blocked the A20 near the Port of Dover. It has been closed in both directions, between A256 York Street and A2 Jubilee Way.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said it looked as thought there were 300 men.

It has not been confirmed what the protest is about.

Police are “engaging” with protestors at the scene. The force said in a statement: “Kent Police is aware of a protest currently taking place at the Port of Dover.

“Officers are in attendance and engaging with protesters.”

Eyewitness Nathan Ditchburn told Kent Online he spotted the group when he was commuting to work at 6:45am.

He said: “I would say there are around 300 men, maybe more.

“They have blocked off every entrance and exit of the Dover port area, and Jubilee Way is blocked as well.

“It will be causing huge delays for the ferries today.”

At the moment, vehicles are unable to reach the port.
