I got a preview of Charlotte Simone's new coats – these are the 3 styles I'd buy

The idea of a ‘cult’ fashion piece is thrown around a lot. But one modern creation that’s fully deserving of the now ubiquitous term is a Charlotte Simone coat.
You might well know and love the brand, but even if you don’t, you’d be able to recognise it from a few hallmarks: shearling trims, statement sleeves, joy-sparking colours, vintage-inspired silhouettes.
You might also recognise them because of the label’s long and ever-growing list of celebrity fans. Taylor Swift, Charli xcx, Dua Lipa, Gigi Hadid, Sienna Miller: name an international it girl and they’ve probably fallen under the spell cast by London-based designer Charlotte Simone Beecham and her eponymous brand.
The fashion set, too, appears unable to resist. As you read, they’ll be silencing alarm reminders and heading to charlottesimone.com, because the first of the season’s drops are live – and the 17-piece collection is highly unlikely to stick around for long.

That’s the other thing that confers cult status on Charlotte Simone pieces: they’re tricky to get hold of. The brand operates in a drop model, meaning that customers can only buy a limited run over one-week periods. They can also be found in occasional archive sales but, generally speaking, you have to act fast to score one.
Simone started her brand over a decade ago, originally selling online and through retailers like Selfridges and Matches Fashion. She pivoted to a limited-quantity model because of Covid, and it turned out not only to be a successful, sustainably minded move, but a defining point of the business.
This latest 17-piece collection is a winner, combining signature silhouettes with fresh new styles, all inspired by a moment of hope.
“Every collection starts with a feeling, and this one began with the optimism that comes with a new chapter,” she says. “I’d just had my baby boy, so instead of travelling for research as I normally would, I stayed on home turf.
“The ideas were really born in my pastel pink bedroom, nursing at dawn with very tired eyes, watching golden skies come up over London. There's something so hopeful about a winter morning… the light, faded petals resting on the mantelpiece, the warmth of home when it's freezing outside. I wanted to bottle that feeling.”

It’s a feeling that still feels a way off in the unseasonable warmth, but it’s a good time to snap one up, even if only to manifest some chillier weather and all the sartorial opportunities that come with it. New to the line-up are the brand’s first fleece (£200, Charlottesimone.com) and a tiger print style called Roxanne that’s made in cotton for a lighter effect.
“Roxanne’s tiger print (£350, Charlottesimone.com) was laboured over and loved in-house for quite some time, so seeing her finally come to life feels really special,” says Simone. “She's bold and playful, with a little bit of that Sixties confidence I love.” You can feel all of this as soon as you put the coat on – perfect for those who like a one-and-done option.
For a more everyday style that will go with everything, look to the Maxine jacket (£395, Charlottesimone.com), a glossy black faux leather style trimmed with Mongolian lambswool for that unmistakable Charlotte Simone flair.
Finally, there’s the Olive jacket (£385, Charlottesimone.com), which combines ‘chocolate’ brown faux shearling and ‘strawberry milk’ lambswool trim. In the depths of winter, that flash of pink will be all you need to take an outfit from drab to fab.
Available from £200 between Tuesday 6 October – 13 October at Charlottesimone.com
