The Basque boss has come in from Bournemouth to replace Arne Slot, who was sacked earlier in the summer despite finishing fourth in the Premier League. In his first two top-flight outings so far, Iraola has overseen two 2-2 draws, at Newcastle United and at home with Nottingham Forest respectively.
Now, his side make the trip to Portman Road to take on the league’s new boys, who are back after a term away. Gary O’Neil’s Tractor Boys are one win from two so far, having beaten Sunderland on their return, but they were defeated 5-2 by Manchester United last time out.
Today could see a debut for Liverpool’s big-money summer signing Bradley Barcola, who arrived from Paris Saint-Germain to some fanfare earlier this week for £123million. Iraola issues Leoni injury update
Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has provided a positive injury update on Giovanni Leoni.
It has been almost a year on the sidelines for Leoni, who signed from Serie A side Parma last summer in a deal worth around £26million.
The Italian central defender made his Liverpool debut in a Carabao Cup third round tie against Southampton on September 23, 2025, and impressed before landing awkwardly following a challenge near the touchline just over 10 minutes from time.

Ipswich stunned Sunderland on the opening day, and they played very well in the first half at Old Trafford before Man United upped their gear.
