England footballer Ivan Toney will appear in Westminster Magistrates' Court next Thursday after his assault case was delayed by a week.
The 30-year-old, who plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm on July 31 following an incident in a Soho nightclub on December 6.
He was due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday to face the allegation for the first time.
But a court official said the hearing is now set to take place on October 1, after a request for a delay was received on Wednesday night.
At the time of his charge, a spokesperson for Toney said: ‘Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court.’

Toney was a surprise selection in Thomas Tuchel's England World Cup squad in the summer.
He appeared in the semi-final against Argentina as a late substitute and then started the third-place play-off win over France.
The 30-year-old joined Al-Ahli in August 2024 from Brentford for £40million, having scored 72 goals in 141 games for the Bees.
Toney missed the first half of the 2023-24 season due to a gambling ban but went on to feature in England's run to the Euro 2024 final.
