Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence has warned social media users that she will “quit” Instagram if anyone “says anything negative”.

The 36-year-old launched a public social media account on Wednesday which has since accrued more than 1.8 million followers.

In her first video on the account, she sent a warning call to any potential trolls who might take to the comments section.

She said: “I’m giving it a shot, and if anyone says anything negative, I will quit immediately.

“No questions asked. If anyone thinks something mean, I’ll know.

“I’ll know and I’ll quit.”

Fans have already taken to the comment section to show their support, including Emily In Paris actress Lily Collins, Chicken Shop Date star Amelia Dimoldenberg and Stranger Things actor Noah Schnapp.

Lawrence said in her bio that she used the handle jlaw because her full name was already taken.

She also wrote on her Instagram story: “Please be mindful that any mean or aggressive comments can negatively affect the baby. It’s me. I’m the baby.”

Lawrence’s breakout role was in 2010 in independent drama Winter’s Bone, which saw her nominated at the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards and the Academy Awards.

She rose to fame after starring in the dystopian franchise The Hunger Games, opposite Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.

The actress went on to appear in the superhero film X-Men: First Class (2011), the romantic comedy Silver Linings Playbook (2012), for which she won a best actress Oscar, and the psychological drama Die My Love (2025).

She founded her own production company in 2018 called Excellent Cadaver and has gone on to produce several films she has starred in, including drama Causeway (2022) and comedy No Hard Feelings (2023).
