Liverpool will be hoping that they can welcome back at least one player ahead of their Champions League campaign this week.
The Reds earned their first win under Andoni Iraola on Friday when they beat Ipswich 2-0 at Portman Road, with Alexander Isak scoring twice.
Most of the Merseysiders’ injury absentees are out for the long term, but there is growing hope that a defender will be back in action before too long.
Liverpool host Atletico Madrid on Wednesday in their European opener.

Gomez was taken off inside just 10 minutes of Liverpool’s first pre-season friendly, but is close to a comeback.
“He will be some weeks off,” Iraola said of the English defender after the game against Sunderland in Nashville.
“It's a muscle injury and [with] muscle injuries it is difficult to say one day, but normally I always put [it] as one month.”
Now, however, he is set to make his return to action, with Iraola revealing before the trip to Ipswich: “Joe will probably start training with us next week, and it has gone normally.
“The recovery from a muscle injury - more or less, we were expecting the time on this. I hope we can have him before the break, let’s say.'

Italian forward Chiesa has missed the first three games of the season with a muscle injury.
He twanged something in his back in the pre-season friendly against Como, but he will not return until October, it seems.
“I think even Fede should be around those dates [after the international break],” Iraola said last week.

The striker’s brilliant debut campaign was curtailed in April this year when he ruptured his Achilles tendon.
He has not featured since then, but Iraola is confident that he could make a comeback before the end of the year.
“Hugo will go [later this year],” the Reds’ boss said last week.
It remains to be seen when exactly the French international will make his long-awaited comeback.
Potential return date:
The right-back has been out since January having suffered an injury against Arsenal.
The Northern IReland international has had surgery, and is stll sidelined.
He could well return before Ekitike, with Iraola hoping that he will not be far behind Chiesa in terms of a comeback.

Italian youngster Leoni tore his ACL on debut against Southampton a year ago.
He has not played since for the Reds, but he is closing in on a return to action at last.
“I think the plan is also to start training during the [international] break, with the group,” Iraola said last week ahead of the win over Ipswich.
