London commuters 'stared at phones while 14-year-old girl was attacked on train'

A 14-year-old girl who was allegedly raped on a train to London has said that commuters “just stared at their phones” as she was assaulted in front of them.
Baryalai Rahimi, 25, and Mirebadurahman Sadat, 29, are alleged to have followed the runaway autistic girl onto the train at a Kent railway station on February 4, the Inner London Crown Court heard.
The two men, both Afghan migrants, deny all charges against them.
The court heard that Rahimi kissed and sexually assaulted her in the carriage while other passengers looked at their phones.
He is then alleged to have lured her into a lavatory, raping her three times, before handing her to Sadat, who also sexually assaulted her.
The girl said that Rahimi asked her age, and that both men laughed when she said she was 14.
She said that Rahimi tried to lure her somewhere else while they waited for the train before forcibly kissing her.
She told police Rahimi asked her to sit on his lap just five minutes after they got on the train.
Asked why she did so, she said: “I don’t know. It’s a bit hard for me to say no to men.
“He’s bigger than me, stronger, and I can’t do anything. I just like to do what people want so it keeps me out of a dangerous situation.”
She said Rahimi kissed and sexually assaulted her while she sat on his lap.
Asked what the passengers on the busy Southeastern service were doing, she said: “No one was really looking at us. Everyone was just on their phones.”
Earlier in the trial, jurors saw CCTV footage which showed Rahimi brushing past several commuters as he led the girl to the toilet cubicle, where she was allegedly raped three times.
The girl told police that when Rahimi suggested going to the toilet, she tried to tell him no, and described becoming upset during the alleged assault because it “really, really hurt.”
She said Rahimi apologised before raping her again.
The girl said Rahimi then washed his hands and told her to wait for two minutes before following him out - but he is then said to have taken her back to the toilet, where Mr Sadat allegedly assaulted her.
The girl said Rahimi had said of Sadat: “We share everything. We share girls, we share drinks.”
Later footage shows the two men following the much shorter girl off the train at London Bridge.
The girl had been reported missing earlier that day after running away from home.
Police found her at Peterborough Station shortly before 11pm that evening and took her home.
Rahimi, denies three counts of rape, two of sexual assault, one of assault by penetration and six alternative counts of sexual activity with a child, while Sadat denies two counts of assault by penetration, two of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent and four alternative counts of sexual activity with a child.
The trial continues.
