Met Police warn those planning on joining the demonstration ‘they are essentially meeting to purposefully commit a crime’
Thousands join pro-Palestine march in central London

Hundreds of Palestine Action supporters are facing arrest today as a protest is held outside the American Embassy in London.

Around 400 protesters are expected at the demonstration calling for the government to lift its ban on proscribed group.

Defend Our Juries has announced plans for protesters to hold up signs reading “I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action”.

Expressing support for the group is an offence under the Terrorism Act after it was proscribed in June 2025, and the Met have warned all those taking part face arrest.

Met Commander Adam Slonecki said anyone providing logistical support to those holding placards can also expect to be arrested at the demonstration, that is due to start at 1pm.

He said: “All those intending on coming to this event know that supporting a proscribed organisation is unlawful – they are essentially meeting to purposefully commit a crime.”

The Met have brought in a Section 35 dispersal order in parts of central London from 8am to 11pm today.

The order means police can order a person to leave the area or face arrest.

Why is the protest outside the US Embassy?

Talking about its chosen location for the protest, Defend Our Juries claimed the Palestine Action ban was handed out to appease US President Donald Trump.

In August, the US government announced sanctions against Palestine Action, designating it a terror group.

Alongside the protest outside the US Embassy in London, a protest will take place outside the US consulate in Edinburgh.

It claimed the protest would “highlight not only the 'Trumpian' nature of this unprecedented attack on free expression in our country, we will also expose what the ban on Palestine Action has always been about, appeasing Trump after Palestine Action spray painted his golf course and appeasing the Israeli weapons companies which Palestine Action disrupted.”

Why is the protest taking place?

Defend Our Juries has announced plans for protesters to hold up signs reading “I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action”.

Its latest demonstration comes ahead of a Supreme Court hearing on the Palestine Action terror ban.

Expressing support for the group is an offence under the Terrorism Act after it was proscribed in June 2025 by the UK government.

It came after the group claimed responsibility for breaking into RAF Brize Norton last year where two military aircrafts were damaged.

The government says Palestine Action meets the criteria for terrorism, which is the use or threat of serious violence, or serious damage to property, in a manner that is designed to influence any government or intimidate the public in order to advance a political, religious, racial or ideological cause.
