London travel news LIVE: 'Infrastructure damage' at Tube station causes delays for entire line
Passengers have been hit severe delays across the entire Victoria line this afternoon, after infrastructure damage was reported at Brixton Tube station.
The fault on the line’s southern terminus began causing issues before lunchtime and has now caused delays across the route from Brixton and Walthamstow Central, leaving travellers with long waits on busy platforms.
It follows two earlier problems for commuters this morning. The District line was suspended early on Tuesday morning due to a faulty train but has since reopened and service returned to normal after several hours.
Elsewhere, a fire erupted next to train tracks between Gatwick Airport and Purley. The blaze caused delays but was quickly put under control and rail services to the airport have also resumed normal operations.

Gatwick Express states: “There is a fire next to the track between Gatwick Airport and Purley. Some lines are blocked and services will be delayed altered or cancelled.”

Due to a person being taken unwell at Angel, there are minor delays on the Northern line between Camden Town and Kennington via Bank southbound only.

There are also minor delays on the DLR between Woolwich Arsenal and Stratford International due to an earlier electrical fault at the latter.

There are minor delays on the Victoria line due to infrastructure damage at Brixton.
Yesterday, there was a signal failure on the Victoria line, causing widespread delays for the majority of the day.
It is not clear whether these incidents are related.
