An upskirting website targeting hundreds of women and girls across London has been taken down following Metro’s investigation.
The site claimed to have 400 videos of victims, many of whom appeared to be underage, followed and filmed as they walked around the capital.
In most cases they are walking around the city, including Westfield shopping centre and London Underground stations, in shorts or leggings.
The website was publicly accessible, with around 50 videos available for free preview before paying $50 via PayPal to access the rest.
Now it has been privated, with either a ‘Page Not Found’ tab appearing or a prompt to enter an administrator’s or subscriber’s password.
But there is still a chance the website has just been geo-blocked for the UK, or moved to a different server.
Ofcom has confirmed they did not take down the site. Metro has contacted the Metropolitan Police for comment.
A spokesperson for the Mayor of London said: ‘Upskirting is appalling, illegal and predatory behaviour that has no place in our city.
‘The Mayor welcomes the Metro’s investigation shining a light on this issue and is clear that all perpetrators should face the full face of the law.’
One victim, Eranta Ntatsi, 29, was filmed as she went about her business in Wood Green’s High Road. She likens her experience as ‘being raped in the moment’.
The mum-of-two told Metro she had no clue about the video until a man, who follows her husband’s social media accounts, recognised her.
He sent him the footage and now Eranta feels ‘completely violated and abused’.
She said: ‘It was three years ago when I walked out of Halifax after collecting some of my maternity payment. I never even noticed I was being filmed, and suddenly a few weeks ago a man contacts my husband out of the blue letting him know I was on this website.
‘Watching the video for the first time, I just felt disgust. I hate that I am just pushing my baby in a pram and someone is having sexual thoughts.’
